About this site
Plain-English help for the people who keep Australia running.
Australia has more than 2.5 million small businesses, and most of them are run by people who never planned to become part-time accountants, marketers and lawyers. Yet that's what running a business demands — BAS lodgements, software decisions, business structures, award rates, insurance, marketing.
Most of the advice online doesn't help. It's either written for American businesses (different tax system, different laws), buried in jargon, or thinly disguised sales material. The Australian Small Business Guide exists to fix that.
What we do
We publish free, practical guides across four areas: starting a business, finance, tax & accounting, software & tools and marketing & growth. Every guide is written for Australian conditions — the ATO, GST, ASIC and the realities of running a business here.
What we don't do
We don't give personal financial, legal or tax advice — our guides are general information to help you ask better questions and make more confident decisions. For advice on your specific situation, talk to a licensed adviser, accountant or lawyer. See our disclaimer for the details.
