Editorial policy
How we produce our guides, explain our assumptions and handle corrections.
Australian Small Business Guide is published by The Trustee for carparts.com.au. We provide general educational information and practical tools for Australian business owners. We are independent of government agencies and the software providers we cover.
Sources you can check
For rules, thresholds and obligations, our standard is to use the relevant Australian authority: for example, the ATO, ASIC, Fair Work Ombudsman, ACCC or state regulator. Product features and prices should be checked against the provider. Links in a guide let you inspect its sources and check for changes.
A publication date is not a guarantee that every figure remains current. A substantive revision should have a separate updated date. We do not move article dates forward simply to make content look fresh.
AI assistance and authorship
We use AI to assist with research, drafting, editing and software development. Articles published under the site name are attributed to Australian Small Business Guide; that byline does not imply review by an accountant, lawyer or other credentialled professional. AI and automated checks can make mistakes. Use the linked official source to confirm a rule before relying on it.
Examples and calculators
Worked examples are illustrative, not accounts of customer results. Calculators display their formulas and assumptions. Their outputs depend on the figures entered and do not replace accounting records, an assessment of tax obligations or advice tailored to a business. The four pricing and GST calculators run in your browser without uploading the numbers you enter.
Products and commercial relationships
Product coverage should explain who an option suits, its limitations and the basis of comparison. Any paid placement or affiliate link should be labelled where it appears. We do not claim to have personally tested software unless the article describes that testing.
Corrections and topic suggestions
If something appears wrong or out of date, email us with the page URL, the passage in question and a supporting source where available. The same inbox accepts suggestions for guides and tools. We cannot provide personal tax, financial or legal advice through that inbox.
