MYOB Business vs Reckon One: Which Setup Fits Your Business?
MYOB Business and Reckon One deserve a comparison when you want Australian bookkeeping without automatically choosing the most expensive plan. Their bank-account limits, payroll packaging and reporting routes are more useful differences than a broad claim that either is easier.
The differences to check
| Requirement | MYOB Business | Reckon One |
|---|---|---|
| Standard pricing | Lite $35/month or $315/year; Pro $70/month at standard monthly pricing. Check the billing option and GST at checkout. | Accounting Plus $24/month; Premium $46/month standard prices. Payroll is additional. |
| Access | Browser-based Lite and Pro, with MYOB Assist for mobile tasks. | Cloud browser software. Reckon Accounts and Reckon Accounts Hosted are separate products. |
| Payroll | Lite supports up to two employees; Pro supports more. Payroll adds $3 per employee/month. | Separate payroll tiers: Essentials up to 4 employees, Plus up to 10, Premium unlimited. |
| Main caution | Lite, Pro, Solo and AccountRight are different products. Compare the named plan. | Older articles describe superseded module pricing. Use the current named plan. |
Product information checked 9 September 2026 against MYOB Business's official information and Reckon One's official information. Features and prices are plan-dependent; these are documented-feature comparisons, not scored lab tests.
List the accounts before comparing the entry tiers
An owner with a transaction account, savings account and business credit card needs to check MYOB Lite's two-connected-account limit. Compare the required MYOB tier with the actual Reckon plan, not the cheapest headline in each range.
Confirm feed support for every account type. During a trial, inspect a transfer between accounts: it should remain a transfer, rather than becoming an expense on one side and income on the other.
Follow the BAS workflow to the end
MYOB Business advertises BAS lodgement features. Reckon One's documented GST reports support preparation; verify its submission route in your proposed setup. Ask the person responsible for the BAS which approach they will use.
If your adviser lodges outside the accounting application, concentrate on the quality of the reports, questions list and supporting records. Paying for a lodgement feature you will not use has little value.
Try shared work and payroll corrections
Reckon One's unlimited users can suit a shared workflow. In both products, verify the permissions required by the owner, invoice administrator and adviser. Nobody should need to borrow the owner's credentials for routine work.
If employing, price the payroll tier or employee charges and demonstrate a correction flowing through to the accounts. Finally, ask both providers to explain the conversion scope in writing. The accounting subscription is only one part of the cost of changing systems.
Make the decision with a repeatable trial
Use the trial worksheet to record completed tasks, missing capabilities and recurring manual work. Put subscriptions, add-ons and setup into the cost calculator on the same billing and tax basis.

Key takeaways
- Compare the named plan and complete setup, including payroll and integrations.
- Test an ordinary transaction and a correction before committing.
- Confirm that your adviser can use the resulting records and reports.
